Praying for rain

Praying for rain

These women from the village of Rupala, right next to the college, have been going to the temple every day to pray for rain. They come from their village all in a line, singing songs asking the god for rain and carrying water in pots on their heads. Once at the temple they walk clockwise around it and pour water over the statues of the gods. Then they walk back to their village, stopping to fill their pots at the college’s water source. It has been very dry here, considering that it is the rainy season. Every day that they have gone to pray it has rained a little.Click here for a soundslides presentation.
