Rupala Cricket Club
Today Rupala’s cricket team played some other local teams near the village of Baldie, a few kilometers from the college. It was a money match, with something like 2 or 3 thousand rupees up for grabs, and sadly RCC lost pretty quickly. Mosin, one of the boys that Denny teaches English to in the evenings, was giving a play-by-play over the battery-powered loudspeaker, and they tried to get me to give some commentary in English but my cricket knowledge is sorely lacking, so that lasted all of two minutes. The whole thing was pretty amazing, a bunch of boys getting together in the middle of nowhere to play cricket. It reminded me of the movie Lagaan.
